CIPS Membership Grades and Fees:

Affiliate Member

Affiliate membership is ideal for anyone who is not seeking to become professionally qualified with one of CIPS's professional Levels of Qualification for example, but who does have a strong interest in purchasing and supply. Affiliate membership will give you access to membership benefits and does not require any entry qualifications or past experience.

Student Member

Student Membership is the entry level of membership for CIPS students and new practitioners in the purchasing and supply sector who are at the earliest stage of their professional development. As a Student Member, you will have full access to CIPS benefits during the course of your study.

Certificate Member

If you have achieved the Level 2 Introductory Certificate, Level 3 Certificate or the International Certificate, you may become a CIPS Certificate Member.

Diploma Member

Once you have successfully completed the Level 4 Foundation Diploma or the International Advanced Certificate, you can have your level of study recognised through your status as a Diploma Member.

Associate Member

When you have passed Level 5’s Advanced Diploma or a CIPS Corporate Award (Practitioner), your membership status will rise to that of Associate Member. This recognises that you are developing your career and have already reached a significant level.

Full Member (MCIPS)

Your professional accomplishment will be internationally recognised when you are awarded full membership. Most of our Members achieve MCIPS by completing the CIPS Graduate Diploma. You may also achieve MCIPS status upon the successful completion of an accredited degree, N/SVQ level 4 in Procurement or SCM, CIPS Corporate Award, or the CIPS Management Entry Route. (Please note that although successful completion of the Management Entry Route awards full Member status, it does not award the Graduate Diploma qualification.)

Fellow (FCIPS)

Fellowships are awarded to existing Members (MCIPS) with a record of outstanding achievement and competence in purchasing and supply chain management. As a Fellow, you will be internationally recognised both for your professional standing and the contribution you make to the purchasing profession. Our Fellows have a strong voice in the sector and we encourage all of our senior Members to seek Fellowship status.

Working out your course fees

You can start at any time to study by distance learning through MCG for a qualification awarded by CIPS. We will accept you for study by supported distance learning if you have the necessary entry requirements and are sufficiently competent in dealing with material and examinations in English. We will not accept you as a student unless there is an approved exam venue which you can attend to sit the CIPS exams.

If you are not sure which of the five Levels of study to start with, ask your nearest CIPS office or send us a copy of your CV and we will advise you.  Once the correct Level of study has been agreed, all you have to do is confirm your delivery address and send MCG the correct amount from the charts and payment methods below. We will then :

  • Send you the study material by courier

  • Prepare a personalised study schedule for you

  • Assign a tutor to you and provide you with specific study instructions based on your schedule

You can spread your study over any period of time which is suitable to you and you only need to pay Membership Fees and Exam Enrolment Fees to CIPS when you feel you are ready to sit one or more of their exams.  Exams outside the UK are scheduled by CIPS during the third weeks of May, July and November each year and you can sit as many or as few exams as you wish at each sitting. You will however need to meet the deadline dates set by CIPS to join as a Student Member and enrol for their exams. This is usually two months before any exam sitting. We can help you to find the approved exam venues nearest to you, or you can ask CIPS or look on the Exam Enrolment Forms on the CIPS web site.

You will also need to pay administration and exam invigilation fees to the venue where you sit your CIPS exams.

So, study fees fall into the following four categories :

  1. Study fees payable to MCG for supported distance learning which include study material, recommended reference text books, a study schedule and a tutor who will provide feedback on assignments which you submit by email.

  2. CIPS Student Membership fees payable to CIPS

  3. CIPS Exam Enrolment fees payable to CIPS

  4. Exam Invigilation fees payable to the approved exam venue
